The new CIA Director, John Ratcliffe, stated that the global spread of COVID-19 is likely linked to a leak from a biological laboratory in Wuhan.
In an interview with The New York Times, he emphasized that intelligence, science, and common sense point to this theory.
I’ve spoken a lot about the need to address the threat from China, including the cause of the deaths of a million Americans. The CIA has not provided an assessment of COVID’s origin for five years. In my opinion, our intelligence, science, and common sense point to the virus originating from a lab leak in Wuhan. However, the CIA either did not make such an assessment or did not disclose it.
Ratcliffe noted that the CIA has not provided a final assessment of the virus’s origin over the past five years, despite having raised the issue of the potential threat from China, which led to the deaths of millions of people, including in the United States.
