In Slovenia, hundreds of educational institutions received messages about alleged explosive devices, which police believe to be false bomb threats.
A total of 229 schools and kindergartens in the capital, Ljubljana, and many other cities received emails from an anonymous sender using the pseudonym “Bojevnik.” All messages began with claims of a bomb allegedly planted on the premises.
Primož Ogrinc, head of the police department for counterterrorism and extremism, stated that the threat is assessed as “low” since the messages were identical and sent to institutions nationwide without specifying particular schools, kindergartens, or locations.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the emails were sent from various IP addresses at different times. Slovenian law enforcement agencies plan to cooperate with counterparts from other countries that have recently experienced similar incidents, such as Hungary.
Ogrinc added that the anonymous “terrorists” appear to aim to create an atmosphere of fear and warned that such incidents may occur again.
