Jordan and Egypt reject Trump’s plan to relocate Palestinians

Jordan and Egypt have strongly opposed President Trump’s plan to resettle Palestinians, emphasizing their commitment to Palestinian sovereignty and rights.

Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi made it clear, stating, “Security in the Middle East is only possible through the establishment of an independent state for the Palestinians, not through their relocation.” This sentiment echoes Jordan’s long-standing stance on the issue, which prioritizes a two-state solution over forced displacement.

Similarly, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry issued a firm statement, stressing, “Egypt stresses the unacceptability of any violation of Palestinian rights, whether through settlements, occupation, or the temporary or long-term displacement of Palestinians from their land.” Egypt’s rejection highlights its concern for the preservation of Palestinian identity and territory.

This opposition comes as reports indicate that the Trump administration is still grappling with the complex task of rebuilding Gaza and finding a solution for the relocation of approximately 2 million Palestinians. Despite the U.S. administration’s ongoing efforts, both Jordan and Egypt stand firm in their belief that the key to lasting peace lies in the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state, not their forced relocation.
