The leader of France’s right-wing National Rally party, Jordan Bardella, has declared that dissolving the parliament and calling for new elections is unavoidable. He emphasized the necessity of holding “parliamentary elections as soon as they become institutionally possible.”
Bardella explained that dissolving the parliament is a decision for the president, but he insists it is “inevitable” once the timing allows, which he suggested would likely occur in July, one year after the previous dissolution.
“Only a return to the people will allow for the creation of a clear and stable majority for the country,” he stated.
According to Bardella, the current state of the National Assembly, which he described as “complicated and indecisive,” reflects the uncertainty of the French public. He argued that it cannot remain unchanged.
“In this sense, it is essential for the people to decide and complete what they started last summer,” Bardella added.
It is also important to note that François Bayrou, the current Prime Minister of France, was appointed by President Emmanuel Macron amid an ongoing political crisis that has followed the right-wing’s strong performance in the European elections last June.
