Storm Herminia triggers flash flooding and destruction across Italy and France

Storm Herminia is sweeping across Europe, bringing heavy rain and powerful winds to parts of Italy and France. In the French city of Rennes, residents have been forced to evacuate as flash flooding submerged the streets.

In Italy, the storm has particularly impacted Tuscany and Liguria. Florence experienced flash flooding that inundated streets and underpasses. Strong winds also caused a wall to collapse in Genoa, prompting firefighters to search through the rubble to ensure no one was trapped.

Additionally, a landslide blocked a road between Busalla and Mignanego, although no homes were reported to be affected. Several cars, however, were hit by the debris.

As the storm continues, three French departments remain under a red weather alert, including Ille-et-Vilaine, where flooding from Herminia has been described as the worst in 40 years.
