The Finnish government has submitted an updated bill to parliament regarding nicotine pouches, aiming to reduce their appeal to young consumers.
The proposed legislation tightens regulations on nicotine pouches, including restrictions on flavors. Specifically, only mint and menthol flavors would be permitted, while sweet fruit and berry flavors would be banned, as they are considered to make the product more attractive to teenagers.
Earlier, the Finnish parliament had already approved changes to tobacco legislation on this issue, but the amendments were sent back for revision after concerns arose that they could favor a specific company.
Previously, the French government also discussed banning nicotine pouches, citing similar concerns that the product was targeted at young people.
