The White House is facing a challenge in keeping up with President Donald Trump’s unusually high volume of public speaking, with staff struggling to transcribe his speeches quickly enough.
In his first week in office, Trump spoke for nearly 7 hours and 44 minutes, using 81,235 words—a total surpassing the word count of the entire original Star Wars trilogy. This is a stark contrast to his predecessor, Joe Biden, who spoke for just 2 hours, 36 minutes, and 24,259 words during his first week. Even Trump’s own first term saw fewer words, totaling 3 hours, 41 minutes, and 33,571 words.
Currently, the transcription team is finding it difficult to keep pace with the president’s frequent speeches, with the Associated Press reporting that the White House is considering hiring additional staff to manage the workload.
The Trump administration frames his prolific speaking as a commitment to transparency and accessibility, underscoring the White House’s open communication with the public.
