FBI may cut agents investigating UFO cases

A previously undisclosed group of FBI agents investigating UFOs may face layoffs. According to Politico, employees fear dismissal because they were involved in cases related to the storming of the Capitol on January 6, 2021.

More than 10 agents across the country collect and analyze data on unidentified flying objects. For over a year, they have collaborated with Americans for Safe Aerospace, supplementing witness testimonies with classified information. However, all FBI employees have been asked to complete a questionnaire about their involvement in the Capitol riot investigation, and some believe this signals a possible dismissal order from Donald Trump.

The FBI emphasizes that it only investigates UFO cases when there is a national security threat. Meanwhile, Congress is discussing legislation aimed at tightening control over such investigations. In 2023, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that “unknown objects with advanced technologies” regularly enter U.S. airspace.

Former Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe confirms that there are far more UFO sightings than the public knows. According to him, military personnel and satellites detect objects performing maneuvers that cannot be explained using known technologies. Trump’s national security advisor Mike Waltz suggests these could either be secret adversary developments or extraterrestrial objects.

Former intelligence officer Kayson Best believes that potential layoffs would seriously harm the investigation. In his opinion, the FBI is uniquely positioned to make the study of the UFO phenomenon official, and their work is especially crucial right now.
