Two armed men with Kalashnikov rifles opened fire at a railway station in Brussels, reports El Pais.
The incident occurred at one of the city’s largest stations, near the city center, causing panic among passengers and station staff. According to preliminary reports, there were no casualties from the shooting, although many people were severely frightened and fled in search of shelter.
After the incident, the gunmen escaped the crime scene using subway tunnels, complicating their apprehension. The police are actively searching for the perpetrators, using surveillance cameras and conducting searches in nearby areas and subway stations. To ensure security at the station and its surroundings, security measures have been reinforced, and transport movement within a several-kilometer radius has been restricted.
Authorities do not rule out the possibility that the shooting may be linked to the rise in criminal activity in Brussels, particularly in the areas of drug trafficking and mafia activity. In recent months, the Belgian capital has seen an increase in drug-related crimes, which is associated with the growing influence of organized criminal groups.
