Paris stabbing: Repeat North African killer strikes again

A horrifying murder unfolded on the streets of Saint-Seine-Denis, Paris, as 37-year-old Soufiane Ourraoui, a man of North African descent, brutally stabbed his victim 25 times in broad daylight. The attack, caught on video Monday evening, shows Ourraoui repeatedly knifing his lifeless target before casually walking away.

Police arrested Ourraoui just a few hundred meters away, recovering a knife and machete believed to be the murder weapons. Shockingly, this isn’t his first killing. A decade ago, he shot a man dead outside a bar for refusing to give him a cigarette. Instead of facing trial, authorities deemed him insane, sending him to a psychiatric facility rather than prison.

Deemed not criminally responsible, Ourraoui was banned from owning weapons for 20 years and placed under psychiatric supervision—yet he was later released. On the very day of this latest murder, he was supposed to check in for a psychological evaluation. Instead, he butchered another victim.

Authorities have now placed Ourraoui in solitary confinement, with plans to move him to a prison hospital. His latest attack raises serious concerns about France’s handling of dangerous individuals deemed mentally unfit for trial. How many more lives will be lost before the system acknowledges its deadly mistakes?
