Brussels has experienced its fourth shooting in a week, resulting in one fatality.
The shooting occurred in the Anderlecht district and is believed to be linked to clashes between rival drug gangs, according to the local prosecutor’s office on Friday.
“The shots rang out again last night in the municipality, this time in the Peterbos area around 4 a.m. The identity of the man is yet to be determined,” the police reported separately.
Earlier this week, three other shootings took place in Brussels: two in Anderlecht and one in the Saint-Josse-ten-Noode district.
The investigation into these shooting incidents is part of a broader inquiry into the ongoing feud between drug gangs.
On Thursday, in the Clemenceau area of Anderlecht, one person was injured with a gunshot wound to the leg, and another shooting took place in a different area.
While no one was hurt in the shooting on Wednesday, it caused a temporary shutdown of many Brussels metro stations as the police pursued the suspects.
