The American technology company OpenAI has announced plans to open its first office in Germany in 2025.
The new office will be located in Munich. In an interview with the Handelsblatt newspaper, OpenAI’s CEO Sam Altman emphasized the importance of Germany as a key market for the company.
According to Handelsblatt, Germany is one of OpenAI’s major markets and holds a leading position in Europe. The country ranks among the top five in the world by the number of users of the ChatGPT chatbot. OpenAI already has offices in London, Dublin, Paris, Brussels, and Zurich.
Initially, the Munich office will have about ten employees who will support the client base, including collaborating with consulting firms that help other companies implement AI products. In the future, a team of developers will be formed in Munich to adapt products for OpenAI’s key clients.
OpenAI launched the ChatGPT service in 2022, which became a sensation due to its ability to engage in conversation with users. The service quickly attracted public attention, and many companies worldwide began developing their own chatbots. All of them are competing in the development of what is known as “strong AI,” which, scientists and engineers hope, will surpass human intelligence.
