U.S. presidential adviser Mike Waltz stated that Trump plans to end the conflict in Ukraine, after which the issue of security guarantees will be entirely transferred to European countries.
In the near future, high-level negotiations involving senior American officials will take place in Europe to discuss the details of the settlement, as well as consultations with Kyiv on natural resource matters.
At the same time, Russian media, citing sources in the Kremlin, confirm that Putin has spoken with Trump. Trump held an unofficial conversation with Putin, as he wanted to personally hear the Russian leader’s stance on a peaceful resolution before engaging with Volodymyr Zelensky. It is reported that the presidents discussed the situation in Ukraine, global security, and the participation of Russia and China in the nuclear agreement with Iran.
The discussion also touched on the possible format of future negotiations, considering the Kremlin’s position that views Zelensky as “illegitimate.”
The parties agreed to maintain further contact and prepare for a personal meeting.
