The Patriots for Europe (PfE) Summit, held over the weekend in Madrid under the slogan “Make Europe Great Again” (MEGA), brought together some of the most prominent figures of the European right to discuss the shifting political landscape. The event served as a powerful demonstration of how conservative and sovereignist movements are gaining momentum across the continent. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, Austrian Freedom Party (FPÖ) leader Herbert Kickl, Dutch firebrand Geert Wilders, Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini, and Spanish VOX leader Santiago Abascal were among the leading voices at the summit.
Following a formal consultation on policy coordination, these leaders took to the stage to deliver passionate speeches outlining their shared vision for a renewed, sovereignist Europe. As the political tides shift in the United States and across Europe, the PfE summit resonated with confidence and defiance against the globalist elite.
Orbán: “Yesterday, we were heretics. Today, we are the mainstream.”
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, widely seen as the ideological leader of the European right, took the stage to thunderous applause. He wasted no time in declaring that the patriotic resurgence is not just a temporary wave but a fundamental shift in political power.
“Yesterday, we were the heretics. Today, we are the mainstream. Once, we were dismissed as the past; today, we are the future,” he declared. “In America, the Netherlands, Italy, Austria, and Hungary, patriots are winning. Next up: Czechia!”
His words pointed to the October parliamentary elections in Czechia, where PfE co-founder Andrej Babiš and his ANO party are currently leading the polls. If Babiš secures victory, all three PfE co-founders—Orbán, Babiš, and Kickl—will hold power in their respective countries, marking an unprecedented conservative realignment in European politics.
The Hungarian leader also underscored his country’s role in spearheading the conservative movement. “We have built a free, conservative, and Christian Hungary. No illegal migrants enter our country. In Hungary, crossing the border without permission is a crime, not a political debate,” he stated.
Orbán did not hold back in criticizing the European establishment, calling Brussels’ policies on migration, economic management, and the Ukraine war a disaster. “Brussels has ruined Europe. They have opened the gates to an invasion, drained our wealth to finance a hopeless war, and driven our economy into decline,” he asserted.
Wilders and Le Pen: A Patriotic Front for Europe
Dutch Party for Freedom (PVV) leader Geert Wilders, fresh off his stunning electoral victory in the Netherlands, electrified the audience with a passionate call to action:
“The people of Europe are tired of being dictated to by unelected bureaucrats. They want their countries back! We stand here today because the people demand change! And change is coming!”
Wilders, whose party won the most seats in the recent Dutch elections, criticized the EU’s failure on migration, crime, and economic stagnation. He called for a return to national sovereignty, pledging that the Netherlands would be a key player in the conservative transformation of Europe.
Meanwhile, French National Rally (RN) leader Marine Le Pen echoed similar sentiments. With her party projected to perform strongly in the upcoming European Parliament elections, she framed the battle ahead as a choice between globalist control and national revival:
“We are here to tell the people of France and all of Europe: You are not alone! We will not let Brussels destroy our nations, our traditions, and our freedoms. The people will rise, and we will take back control!”
Salvini and Abascal: Italy and Spain in the Fight
Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini, representing Lega, took the stage with characteristic fervor. He pointed out the failures of progressive immigration policies, particularly in Italy, which has borne the brunt of the Mediterranean migration crisis.
“Italy has had enough of the chaos! We demand secure borders, strong families, and economic growth for our citizens—not handouts for illegal migrants!” Salvini declared.
Hosting the summit in Madrid, VOX leader Santiago Abascal made a strong push for a united right in Spain. He attacked the Spanish socialist government for betraying national interests and praised the PfE movement as a necessary counterforce:
“Europe has been taken hostage by the progressive elites. But you, the Spanish people, know how to tame a raging bull!” he proclaimed, drawing cheers from the audience. “Vamos Santiago! Vamos Patriotas! Vamos VOX!”
Kevin Roberts and Milei: Transatlantic Conservative Alliance
The PfE summit also saw participation from Kevin Roberts, president of the Heritage Foundation, a major conservative think tank in the United States. He emphasized the growing transatlantic alignment between European patriots and the policies of Donald Trump:
“The days of surrendering to globalism are over. America stands with the patriots of Europe. Under President Trump, we will forge a new alliance for liberty and national sovereignty.”
Adding to the international support, Argentine President Javier Milei sent a video message celebrating the end of socialist dominance in Latin America and Europe.
“For too long, the world has been held hostage by failed socialist ideologies. The time of economic freedom and strong national identity has arrived!” Milei proclaimed.
The Road to the European Elections
The Madrid summit made one thing clear: PfE is positioning itself as the dominant force in the upcoming European Parliament elections. With parties like Fidesz, Lega, PVV, VOX, RN, FPÖ, and ANO rising in popularity, their goal is to take control of Brussels and dismantle the EU’s progressive bureaucratic grip.
As Orbán put it in his closing remarks: “We are no longer the opposition. We are the future. The European right is ready to take over Brussels, dismantle the bureaucracy, and join forces across the Atlantic. The fight is not over. Now is our time to make Europe great again!”
The next European Parliament elections will be the true test of whether the patriotic movement can complete its transformation from a rising force into the new ruling mainstream of Europe.
