Fico calls out EU ‘elites’ for blindly following Biden, applauds Trump’s move toward peace

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico isn’t mincing words when it comes to the latest outrage from Europe’s out-of-touch bureaucrats. After former U.S. President Donald Trump took decisive action and opened peace talks with Russia—leaving the EU scrambling—Fico wasted no time setting the record straight.

In a fiery social media post, Fico, a leader who actually puts his country’s interests first, blasted the European Union’s weak and clueless foreign policy. Sharing a photo from his December meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, he pointed out the harsh reality liberals refuse to admit: the EU has made itself irrelevant by blindly following Washington’s disastrous warmongering agenda.

Fico didn’t deny that Russia’s military actions violated international law, but he reminded the world that Moscow had serious security concerns—something Western leaders have deliberately ignored. He also exposed how, back in April 2022, Ukraine had an immediate ceasefire deal within reach, but Brussels and Washington shut it down because peace was never their goal.

Europe’s Self-Inflicted Humiliation

Fico painted a grim but honest picture of Europe’s current predicament, calling the EU the biggest loser in this conflict after Ukraine itself. He slammed the bloc’s reckless sanctions, which have only hurt European economies while doing nothing to weaken Russia.

“It’s embarrassing to watch EU leaders act so helpless, especially those who cheered on this war and insisted on fueling more bloodshed,” he said, pointing out that Trump at least had the courtesy to inform Ukraine of his plans—something the EU couldn’t manage.

Predicting what comes next, Fico warned that Europe should brace for reality: Trump will prioritize American energy exports, push the EU to ramp up defense spending, and ensure Ukraine never joins NATO. When the dust settles, Ukraine will have lost a third of its land, its natural resources, and any say in its own future.

“The EU played a game of tennis with Trump and Putin and got crushed in straight sets. This humiliation? We brought it on ourselves,” Fico concluded, adding that it’s time to abandon the illusion of the old world order.

Backlash From the EU’s Loyalists

Naturally, the usual EU loyalists and globalist mouthpieces erupted in outrage. Progressive Slovakia’s Ivan Korčok, a former foreign minister who never misses an opportunity to parrot Brussels’ propaganda, called Fico’s words “irresponsible.” He laughably insisted that Slovakia’s survival depends on maintaining so-called “sacred principles” about borders—conveniently ignoring that Ukraine’s current borders were drawn by corrupt Western politicians, not history or reality.

Other pro-EU figures, like former Slovak ambassador to NATO Tomáš Valášek, predictably attacked Fico, accusing him of siding with Russia. But in reality, Fico isn’t siding with anyone—he’s simply acknowledging the truth that Europe’s liberal elites refuse to face.

Meanwhile, EU officials rushed to issue their usual empty statements. Foreign ministers from Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and Poland, alongside Brussels bureaucrats, insisted that any peace deal must include Ukraine and its European “partners.” But with Trump and Putin already at the negotiating table, their opinions are irrelevant.

Even EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas, in a desperate attempt to stay relevant, chimed in on social media, claiming that Ukraine’s sovereignty was “unconditional.” Yet, as Fico rightly pointed out, Europe’s liberal rulers have done nothing but lead their people into crisis after crisis—all to serve Washington’s interests, not their own.

Fico’s message is clear: the EU is lost, stuck in a fantasy world where it still calls the shots. But Trump’s move proves otherwise, and now Europe must face the reality of its self-inflicted irrelevance.
