Former Moldovan President Igor Dodon announces protests against government

Former Moldovan President and leader of the Socialist Party (PSRM) Igor Dodon has announced the start of a series of protests against the current government.

The first demonstration is scheduled for Saturday, February 22, at 11:00 AM in front of the presidential administration building, the politician stated in an interview.

Dodon emphasized that the protests will be open to all citizens, regardless of their political views.

“We are organizing a protest without flags, where anyone can join. This is just the beginning. We will hold more demonstrations, especially as the weather warms and more people are willing to take to the streets. The protest is scheduled for the weekend to make it more convenient for many, including our colleagues from the regions,” the PSRM leader said.

Dodon had previously announced his intention to launch mass protests against the current government at the end of January. At the time, he also called for opposition unity, stating that negotiations were already underway with certain political forces to coordinate a common protest agenda.
