The UK Prime Minister’s office has confirmed that Keir Starmer will meet with U.S. President Donald Trump next week during his visit to Washington.
The confirmation of the meeting comes amid the Prime Minister downplaying any disagreements with the U.S. over Ukraine and European security, after Donald Trump unilaterally initiated negotiations with Russia and stated that Europe should take on more responsibility for its own defense.
A spokesperson for the Prime Minister informed reporters about the topics to be discussed during the meeting with Trump: “There will be a wide range of issues we will be working on with the new U.S. administration.”
“The Prime Minister is looking forward to meeting with President Trump to discuss how we can deepen our special relationship in trade, investment, and security,” the spokesperson said.
Last week, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he would meet with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer “very soon.”
