A crowdfunding campaign has been launched on the Polish platform Zrzutka to purchase the U.S. state of Hawaii. This was reported on the service’s website.
The initiative emerged in response to former U.S. President Donald Trump’s plans to buy Greenland. The organizers set a fundraising goal of one million zlotys, emphasizing that if the U.S. seeks to expand its territories, Poland, as an ambitious nation, also aims high.
Trump had previously stated multiple times that Canada and Greenland should become part of the United States and expressed his intention to bring the Panama Canal back under American control. His remarks provoked strong reactions from the governments of Panama, Canada, and Denmark.
Meanwhile, Republican Congressman Buddy Carter from Georgia proposed renaming Greenland to “Red-White-and-Blueland” after its potential annexation to the U.S., noting that acquiring the island was a priority for national security.
It was also previously reported that NATO discussed the possibility of deploying troops to Greenland in response to Trump’s statements.
