Putin holds phone conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping

On February 24, a phone conversation took place between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping, according to China Central Television. The conversation was initiated by the Russian side.

Xi Jinping noted that the relationship between Russia and China is a strong friendship based on mutual support and joint development. He emphasized that these ties have strong internal momentum and unique strategic significance. The Chinese leader also pointed out that the cooperation between Moscow and Beijing is not aimed at any third country and is not subject to external influence.

Furthermore, Xi Jinping expressed support for the efforts of Russia and other interested parties in resolving the Ukrainian crisis. No further details of the conversation have been disclosed at this time.

Earlier, President’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov announced the conversation, noting that Putin planned to inform Xi Jinping about the recent Russia-U.S. negotiations. The last phone conversation between the leaders of the two countries took place at the end of January.
