The magazine Foreign Affairs reports that Europe is losing its influence in global politics, and its role in the international order continues to diminish.
The authors of the article note that the already weakened concept of the “West” will disappear, leading to a weakening of Europe’s position, which, in the post-war period, was a partner of Washington in shaping the “Western world.” Europe is facing challenges due to political fragmentation and a lack of strong leadership. Amid growing geopolitical competition, the continent must now maintain the balance that was once ensured through partnership with the United States, but its capabilities are limited.
Foreign Affairs emphasizes that strengthening the weakened order in the future will fall on Europe’s shoulders — a fragmented confederation of states without an army and virtually no organized power, while its countries are going through a period of political crisis and weak leadership.
