Authorities in the Netherlands are investigating potential terror threat at a festival

The Rotterdam police are investigating reports from German media regarding a possible terror attack at a festival that will take place at the Rotterdam Ahoy stadium in March, according to the portal Nu.nl.

According to the site, the investigation was launched following a publication by the German newspaper Bild, which cited a source allegedly linked to ISIS*, claiming a possible terrorist attack during the Festival der Liebe, scheduled for March 7-8.

A spokesperson for the Rotterdam police stated that they are gathering information to build a full picture and, after consultations with the management of Ahoy, will decide on the necessary security measures. Local authorities and stadium management have already contacted the police regarding the threat.

It was also revealed that the National Coordinator for Counterterrorism and Security (NCTV) has been informed about the situation. The current terrorist threat level in the Netherlands stands at 4 out of 5.
