A strike by airport workers will lead to the cancellation of most flights at Munich Airport on Thursday and Friday.
Airport management has stated that airlines are expected to cancel the majority of the approximately 1,600 scheduled flights over these two days. Passengers are urged to check with their airlines for the latest flight details.
The warning strike will start at midnight on Thursday and continue for 48 hours, ending at midnight on Friday.
Munich Airport, a key hub for Germany’s flagship airline, Lufthansa, is among the country’s busiest transport centers. Earlier this week, the Verdi union also called for strikes at Cologne/Bonn and Düsseldorf airports.
The labor action is part of Verdi’s push for better working conditions for public sector employees at both local and national levels in Germany. Their demands include an 8% salary increase and three additional paid public holidays.
Negotiations on Tuesday failed to yield an agreement.
