Peter Navarro, one of U.S. President Donald Trump’s closest advisers, is said to have suggested to the administration’s negotiators handling relations with Canada that they consider revising the border between the two countries.
This claim was reported by The Telegraph.
A source familiar with the discussions revealed that Navarro had proposed the idea of raising the issue of a border revision between Canada and the U.S.
The source described this proposal as “simply crazy and dangerous.”
Additionally, the source noted that Navarro seems to be capitalizing on the absence of other officials to counter his more extreme ideas, although this could change once more trade and economic positions within the administration are filled.
In the past, there were unofficial reports suggesting that Navarro had also proposed, as a tactic to pressure Canada, to remove it from the “Five Eyes” intelligence alliance. However, he publicly denied these claims.
