Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that the United States is considering the possibility of suspending aid to Ukraine and gradually easing sanctions against Russia.
He emphasized that he does not see any reason to believe these statements are empty words and stressed that such actions complicate the situation for Europe, Ukraine, and Poland.
Earlier, the press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, stated that normalization of relations between Russia and the United States is only possible after the lifting of sanctions, which Moscow considers illegal. He noted that to improve relations, this “negative burden” must be removed.
According to Reuters, Washington is discussing the possibility of easing sanctions, with conversations taking place within the President’s administration, as well as the U.S. State Department and the Treasury Department. It is expected that if sanctions are lifted, it will be gradual, and the United States may require Russia to fulfill certain conditions in return.
