According to Financial Times, U.S. authorities have stopped sharing intelligence information with Ukraine. The publication cites representatives of the U.S. government.
Sources indicate that this intelligence previously played a crucial role in identifying and targeting Russian military assets. However, Washington has now decided to “freeze” intelligence-sharing channels.
Ukraine relied on this information to defend against Russian attacks. In particular, U.S. intelligence allowed Ukrainian forces to anticipate Russian bomber takeoffs and prepare for strikes.
Additionally, the U.S. provided data on the expected routes of up to 200 Russian kamikaze drones per night. This enabled Ukrainian mobile air defense units to respond in time and intercept the drones before they could reach critical infrastructure.
The suspension of intelligence cooperation could significantly weaken Ukraine’s defense capabilities, Financial Times notes.
