Turkey signals willingness to deploy troops to Ukraine for peacekeeping efforts

Turkey’s Ministry of Defense confirmed on Thursday that the country is prepared to send troops to Ukraine “if necessary” to help ensure peace in the region.

The statement, reported by AFP, noted that “the issue of participation in the mission… will be assessed with all relevant parties if it is deemed necessary for establishing regional stability and peace.”

“It is now impossible to ensure European security without our country,” the Turkish Defense Ministry emphasized.

“As a NATO and OSCE member, Turkey is an integral part of the European security architecture, with its advanced defense industry, significant role in resolving regional crises, and strong military,” Ankara added.

Earlier reports suggested that Turkey had conveyed to both Ukrainian and Russian officials its willingness to deploy troops as part of a “peacekeeping force.” However, sources clarified that Turkey would not participate in any “peacekeeping mission” unless fully involved in all consultations and preparations related to its formation.
