U.S. President Donald Trump intends to persuade Vladimir Zelensky to agree to a partial ceasefire, which would serve as the first step toward initiating peace talks to end the war. This was reported by Bloomberg.
During upcoming talks in Saudi Arabia, the United States will insist that Ukraine commit to a ceasefire. These negotiations will focus on the conditions for a peace agreement and the initiation of a temporary ceasefire.
Earlier, Zelensky proposed a partial ceasefire that did not involve halting ground combat but included a moratorium on airstrikes. Now, the U.S. intends to convince Ukraine of the need for a temporary ceasefire until a long-term agreement is reached.
Ukraine will also propose a ceasefire in the air and at sea to Russia, which, according to Ukrainian officials, would be easier to control and implement, potentially paving the way for peace negotiations.
Furthermore, Bloomberg sources report that U.S. advisers are developing a plan to ease anti-Russian sanctions, including imposing price caps on Russian oil. Russia, for its part, has expressed readiness to discuss a temporary ceasefire if progress is made toward a final peace settlement.
