U.S. President Donald Trump cast doubt on Ukraine’s chances of survival, even with continued American military support. In an interview with Fox News, he suggested that despite ongoing aid, Ukraine might still fall.
“Well, it may not survive anyway,” Trump remarked. “We’ve got weaknesses with Russia. It takes two. That war wasn’t supposed to happen, and now we’re stuck with this mess.”
On March 4, Trump halted all military aid to Ukraine after a tense exchange with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House. Shipments of weapons—some already in transit—were frozen, and intelligence-sharing was scaled back. While the U.S. still provides data for Ukraine’s defense, it no longer supplies information for strikes on Russian targets.
Reports from NBC News suggest Trump won’t resume aid, even if a deal on mineral resources is reached. He also expects Zelenskyy to soften his stance on peace talks, particularly regarding territorial concessions.
