White House prepares to ease sanctions against Russia – Bloomberg

The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump is developing a plan to ease anti-Russian sanctions imposed due to the war in Ukraine, including lifting the price cap on Russian oil, Bloomberg reports, citing sources.

According to the publication, Moscow has expressed readiness to discuss a temporary ceasefire in Ukraine if the parties can make progress toward a final peace settlement. However, negotiations on providing U.S. security guarantees to Ukraine have been temporarily suspended, several American officials stated.

The United States is also insisting on revising the wording in the final communiqué of the upcoming G7 foreign ministers’ meeting. According to sources, Washington is demanding that the word “sanctions” regarding Russia be removed from the document and opposes the creation of a task force to investigate Russia-linked vessels.
