In the Czech Republic, a vandal caused extensive damage to 40 parked cars in the city of Frýdek-Místek. The incident occurred on Saturday evening, but details were reported by the police on Tuesday.
“The cars were damaged by an unknown criminal who scratched the paintwork of the bodies, doors, hoods, or fenders of the parked vehicles. The crime scene was located on Antala Staška, Jiráskova, Manešova, and El. Krasnogorská streets in Frýdek-Místek,” said police spokesperson Kateřina Kubzová.
Preliminary estimates suggest the damage exceeds 400,000 Czech korunas. The police have launched an investigation into criminal damage to property.
“In connection with the investigation of this case, police officers are appealing to the public for assistance in locating the still unknown criminal or criminals. They would appreciate information from any witnesses, as well as recordings from surveillance cameras of parked or passing vehicles, and possibly taxi drivers who may have observed suspicious behavior from people moving around the aforementioned streets,” said the police representative.
