Trial of suspects in deadly Hague bombing begins in Netherlands

According to NOS, the first court hearing on the case of the explosion, which occurred in December in the Tarwekamp area, started on March 14. The incident resulted in the deaths of six people, with four others injured. An 8-year-old boy was left orphaned, losing both parents and a sister in the destroyed apartment.

The investigation revealed that the explosion was caused by the revenge of the former partner of the owner of a wedding shop located on the ground floor of the building. Four people are facing charges, three of whom are accused of murder. The main suspect, a 33-year-old man, and his accomplices admit their involvement in the incident but claim they did not intend for such consequences.

One of the accused, who was aware of the plan but did not participate in its execution, believes he should not be considered guilty, stating that he ended up behind bars “because of this idiot,” referring to the mastermind. The investigation found that the main suspect wanted to take revenge on his ex and decided to damage her wedding shop. Initially, he planned a theft and threats, but later his plan escalated to arson.

The police accidentally detained two of the suspects with materials for the arson a week before the incident. However, since they had not committed anything illegal at the time and there was no evidence of malicious intent, they were released.

According to the investigation, the men poured about 200 liters of gasoline in the shop and set it on fire using fireworks. The vapors from the flammable liquid caused a powerful explosion that destroyed an entire section of the building. The accused in organizing the explosion are considered responsible for the deaths of six residents of the building.
