Israel ready to continue talks with Hamas on ceasefire and hostage release

Israel has announced its readiness to resume indirect negotiations with Hamas regarding the extension of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the release of hostages.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu instructed the negotiating team to prepare for further dialogue, according to an announcement made on the evening of March 15.

The negotiations will focus on “the mediators’ response to the proposal by U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff for the immediate release of eleven living hostages and the transfer of half of the bodies of deceased hostages.”

This follows Netanyahu’s rejection of Hamas’ recent offer, which suggested the release of one Israeli-American hostage and the transfer of the bodies of four other deceased hostages. According to the Israeli military, 58 hostages are still held in Gaza, with 34 believed to have already died.
