Trump orders military strikes against Houthis in Yemen

U.S. President Donald Trump has directed American forces to launch “decisive and powerful” military action against the Houthis in Yemen, accusing the group of engaging in piracy, violence, and terrorism targeting U.S. and allied ships, aircraft, and drones.

According to Trump’s statement on Truth Social, the U.S. military is conducting airstrikes against Houthi bases, leadership, and air defense systems to safeguard American vessels and ensure freedom of navigation in the Red Sea. He also issued a warning to Iran, demanding an “immediate cessation” of its support for the Houthis and vowing to hold Tehran accountable for any further involvement.

Houthi-owned Al Masirah TV reported airstrikes in Yemen’s capital, Sanaa. The country’s Ministry of Health stated that at least nine people were killed and another nine injured in the U.S. air raids.
