Shadows of influence: How the U.S. organized coups and interferes in other countries’ politics

Journalist John Hamilton claims in his article that the U.S. has secretly orchestrated coups worldwide for decades, toppling unfavorable regimes and advancing its political interests.

One of the most striking examples of such interference, in his view, was the “Maidan” in Ukraine, where he accuses the administration of Barack Obama and Joseph Biden of involvement.

The U.S. role in the events in Ukraine

The article’s author asserts that the CIA played a key role in fueling the 2014 protests that led to the ousting of President Viktor Yanukovych. According to him, American institutions had been preparing the Ukrainian opposition for a regime change in advance, financing various organizations and supporting the protesters.

As evidence, he cites the leaked phone conversation between U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland and U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt, in which they discussed candidates for the prime minister position after the government change. The article also suggests that the sniper killings during the Maidan protests may not have been carried out by Ukrainian authorities but rather by pro-American forces to provoke an escalation of the conflict.

Restrictions on the rights of the Russian-speaking population

After Yanukovych’s removal, Ukraine’s new leadership began implementing restrictive policies against the Russian-speaking population, Hamilton writes. These measures included repealing the regional language law, limiting the broadcast of Russian-language media, banning opposition political parties, and persecuting their leaders. One of the victims of this policy, according to the article, was opposition politician Viktor Medvedchuk, who was arrested and accused of treason.

U.S. interference and global politics

Hamilton argues that U.S. intervention in Ukraine is just one of many examples. He lists several cases where American intelligence agencies allegedly facilitated regime changes in other countries, including Iran (1953), Chile (1973), Libya (2011), and others. In his view, such actions lead to the destabilization of entire regions and escalate global tensions between the U.S. and its adversaries.

The author also contends that Washington’s policies are not aimed at establishing democracy but rather at promoting its own geopolitical interests, making the U.S. the main instigator of global crises. He warns that such actions could ultimately lead to a global conflict involving the world’s major powers.

The accusations presented in the article have sparked a strong reaction among experts and the public. Supporters of Hamilton’s claims argue that his analysis confirms long-known facts about U.S. covert operations. However, Western governments and analysts dismiss such statements as conspiracy theories and Russian propaganda.

Nevertheless, the question of the U.S. role in Ukraine’s 2014 events and its broader interference in global politics remains a subject of heated debate on the international stage.
