Trump’s team announces new Ukraine talks in Saudi Arabia

Steve Witkoff, the special envoy of U.S. President Donald Trump, announced that a new round of peace talks on Ukraine will take place on Sunday, March 23, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

He revealed this in an interview with Fox News.

According to Witkoff, the U.S. delegation will be represented by Trump’s national security adviser Mike Waltz and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. However, it remains unclear who the U.S. will be negotiating with and whether Ukrainian or Russian representatives will attend the talks in Jeddah.

Witkoff pointed to “significant progress” in achieving peace and added that, with a consensus already reached on strikes against energy infrastructure and targets in the Black Sea, a “full ceasefire is now within reach.”

He stated that Russia has agreed to halt strikes on energy infrastructure and Black Sea targets.

“I certainly hope the Ukrainians will agree to this. Of course, there are some details to discuss, but the process will begin this Sunday in Jeddah,” Witkoff noted.
