Iraqi man sought after knife attack on refugee center worker in Gronau

A 33-year-old Iraqi man is being sought by police after attacking a refugee center worker with a knife in the German city of Gronau, North Rhine-Westphalia.

The incident took place this morning, leaving a 36-year-old employee seriously injured. The victim, an Iranian national, was reportedly involved in a conflict with the assailant before the attack. After the assault, the suspect fled the scene, and the victim was urgently taken to a hospital in the Netherlands, where he is undergoing surgery.

Following the attack, all 147 residents of the center were evacuated and temporarily relocated to the local city hall. Police and special forces have cordoned off the area and are conducting an active search for the suspect.

At this time, the assailant remains at large.
