Former U.S. President Joe Biden offered his help to Democratic Party leaders in restoring lost positions, urging them to raise funds and run a campaign. However, his proposal received little response.
According to NBC News, Biden’s attempt to regain influence within the party faced a negative reaction. Many party activists and donors associate Biden with the defeat in the 2024 elections, and at 82 years old, he is seen more as a symbol of the past rather than the future of the Democratic Party.
In February, Biden met with Democratic National Committee Chairman Ken Martin, offering his help. This occurred amid a sharp decline in the party’s support to a record low, which did not spark enthusiasm among activists. Some believe that his unsuccessful campaign in the election could worsen the situation for the Democrats.
Additionally, Biden has angered party members by deciding to run for a second term, leaving little time for Vice President Kamala Harris to prepare. In a recent CNN poll, only 1% of respondents chose Biden as the best example for the Democratic Party.
