The gap between the CDU/CSU block and the “Alternative for Germany” (AfD) party has narrowed to just 4%.
According to a fresh poll by the INSA institute prepared for BILD, the CDU/CSU block has lost 1 percentage point compared to last week, dropping to 27%, while AfD gained 1 point, reaching 23%. For comparison, in November of last year, the CDU/CSU’s lead over AfD was 14%, and in the February 23 elections, it was almost 8%. Now, the ratings of these two parties have narrowed to their lowest point in recent times.
INSA’s director, Hermann Binkert, explains this shift as a result of voter disappointment with the negotiations between CDU/CSU and the SPD. According to him, the issue of debt was resolved differently than promised before the elections, and some voters have now turned to AfD.
Additionally, losses have been recorded for other parties. The SPD has lost 1 point, dropping to 15%, while the Greens gained 1 point, reaching 12%. The positions of the Left Party (10%), the Alliance of Sahra Wagenknecht (5%), and the FDP (3%) remain unchanged.
