The Pentagon is urgently developing a new missile defense system called “Golden Dome,” designed to protect the United States from intercontinental ballistic missile strikes. This was reported by CNN, citing its sources.
The White House has decided not to limit funding for this project, which has become one of the key defense priorities of President Donald Trump. Currently, “Golden Dome” is in the conceptual development stage.
The system is seen as an American counterpart to Israel’s “Iron Dome.” Its main goal is to protect the entire territory of the United States from ballistic and hypersonic missiles.
According to retired Admiral Mark Montgomery, a former senior Pentagon official, implementing such a system could take from seven to nine years. Even after it is adopted, the protection will mostly be limited to federal sites and major cities.
Trump also recently announced the development of the F-47 fighter jet, which is expected to be “the deadliest” sixth-generation military aircraft.
