Trump’s special envoy: Putin does not seek to take over all of Europe

U.S. President Donald Trump’s special envoy, Steven Witkoff, stated that Russian leader Vladimir Putin does not plan to occupy all of Europe. He expressed this opinion in an interview with Fox News.

According to Witkoff, the current global situation is fundamentally different from the time of World War II. His remarks came ahead of key negotiations in Jeddah, where U.S. officials are meeting with Ukrainian and Russian representatives to discuss a possible partial ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine.

Witkoff also suggested that the Russian president is aiming for a peaceful resolution to the conflict. “I feel that he wants peace,” he said, adding that the talks in Saudi Arabia could bring “real progress” in negotiating a ceasefire in the Black Sea. In his view, this should lead to a “natural transition” to a full cessation of hostilities.

Earlier, in an interview with Tucker Carlson on March 21, Witkoff noted that he does not consider Putin a “bad guy,” emphasizing the complexity of the war situation. According to him, Trump signaled to Putin that they are “two great leaders” who will “work through this conflict.”
