U.S. President Donald Trump suggested that some countries could be exempt from reciprocal tariffs if deemed necessary.
While announcing a $20 billion investment from Hyundai, Trump stated he “may grant many countries relief” from the tariffs.
“We can do even better,” he added.
However, he did not clarify which nations might qualify for exemptions or the criteria that would be used to determine eligibility. This marks a shift from his previous stance, as he had repeatedly insisted in recent weeks that there would be no exceptions to the tariffs.
