U.S. should get Greenland, it’s a security issue – Trump

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the United States must acquire Greenland as it is critically important for international security and national defense.

According to him, the island plays a strategic role in protecting the United States.

We need Greenland for international security and defense. It is a key territory. We must have it. This island is essential from both a defensive and even offensive perspective, especially given the current global situation. And we will have to acquire it. I don’t like to say it this way, but it is necessary, Trump declared.

He also emphasized that Greenland is one of the most strategically significant locations in modern military conflicts. “If you look at the ships heading toward its shores by the hundreds, it becomes clear how active and important this area is,” he added.

However, Trump did not provide a clear answer when asked whether the people of Greenland want to become U.S. citizens.

Trump’s statement comes ahead of the upcoming visit of U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance to Greenland. Experts believe the visit could be linked to discussions about the island’s future status and its role in Washington’s geopolitical interests.
