Erdogan proposes Turkey as mediator in Russia-Ukraine peace talks

During a conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan once again offered Turkey’s services as a mediator to help negotiate an end to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.

According to Anadolu, a statement from the Turkish side detailed the content of the discussion, which also covered bilateral relations and regional concerns.

“President Erdogan emphasized that cooperation between Turkey and Russia plays a very important role in resolving regional issues, and Turkey is closely following the process initiated to end the war between Russia and Ukraine. Turkey is ready to provide all forms of support – including serving as a platform for peace talks – to ensure a just and sustainable peace,” the Turkish statement said. Erdogan also highlighted the significance of actions aimed at securing maritime trade in the Black Sea, stressing that such steps would contribute to the overall peace process.

The leaders also touched upon the situation in Syria, particularly in light of the recent changes in the government there.

Erdogan has consistently offered his country’s mediation to facilitate negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, playing a pivotal role in diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalating the conflict.
