U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that he will soon have another conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, with Ukraine being a key topic of discussion.
Trump made this statement during a phone call with NBC News on Sunday, where he expressed his anger over Putin’s calls for temporary external management in Ukraine. “I am furious about it,” Trump said. He also threatened to impose new tariffs on Russian oil, but suggested that his anger could subside if Putin does the “right thing.” In this context, Trump mentioned plans to speak with Putin again this week.
The last conversation between the two leaders took place on March 18. Following that discussion, several rounds of negotiations were held in Saudi Arabia from March 23-25, during which the U.S., Russia, and Ukraine agreed to a ban on strikes against energy facilities. However, this agreement has yet to be implemented in practice.
