Nine people injured in mine accident in Spain

At least nine people were injured in a mining accident at the Cerredo mine, located in the municipality of Degaña in the autonomous community of Asturias, Spain.

According to El Pais, citing regional government representative Guillermo Peláez, two of the injured have already been taken to the hospital. Rescue teams and search dogs have been deployed to the site, but it has not yet been confirmed whether anyone remains trapped underground.

Asturian authorities stated that they are closely monitoring the situation and expressed their concern. Emergency responders and the Civil Guard have also arrived at the scene.

Earlier in January, three miners died in Slovenia following the flooding of a coal mine. Additionally, in Poland’s Silesia region, one miner was killed and 15 others were injured in a mining accident.
