U.S. President Donald Trump will make his first foreign trip to Saudi Arabia

According to Axios, citing sources, this visit highlights the strengthening ties between the Trump administration and the Gulf countries, particularly in the areas of economy and investment.

The trip will take place amid White House efforts to restore a ceasefire in Gaza and secure the release of hostages held by Hamas. Axios recalls that during his first presidential term, Trump also chose Saudi Arabia as his first foreign destination. In early March, he stated that he would likely visit the country within the next month and a half.

According to sources, the trip has been discussed in recent weeks with Saudi officials, including on the sidelines of negotiations regarding Ukraine. The visit was initially planned for April 28 but was postponed. Mid-May is now being considered.

A Trump administration representative confirmed that preparations for the trip are underway, with discussions expected to focus on foreign investments, strengthening cooperation with the Gulf region, and Middle East peace efforts.

The White House and the Saudi Arabian Embassy in Washington declined to comment.
