Death toll in Myanmar’s devastating earthquake tops 3,500

The number of fatalities from the powerful earthquake that struck Myanmar on March 28 has risen to 3564, according to reports from China’s Central Television, citing official data from the disaster region.

As of the latest information, 5012 people have been injured, and 210 remain missing. Destruction has been reported in several regions of the country, with thousands left homeless.

According to the Thailand Meteorological Department, the earthquake had a magnitude of 8.2. The tremors were felt not only in Myanmar but also in neighboring countries—Thailand, China, and Vietnam.

Authorities are providing emergency assistance to the victims, including setting up temporary shelters and offering medical support. Search operations for survivors are ongoing.

Earlier reports indicated 3455 deaths and 4840 injuries, but the new data shows an increase in the death toll.
