EU extends “transport visa-free” deal with Ukraine until the end of 2025

The European Union has extended its “transport visa-free” agreement with Ukraine until the end of 2025, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced on Thursday, April 10.

Under the extended arrangement, Ukrainian road freight carriers will continue to operate across the EU without needing special permits.

This marks the fourth extension of the agreement, which Shmyhal emphasized continues to demonstrate its practical benefits.

“Ukrainian exports to the EU by road have increased by 42%, and imports by road to Ukraine by 37%. The ‘transport visa-free’ regime is part of Ukraine’s sectoral integration with Europe and a step toward our EU membership,” he added.

Originally signed on June 29, 2022, the agreement was introduced as a gesture of solidarity from the EU amid ongoing conflict in Ukraine. It simplifies cross-border freight operations by eliminating the need for quotas and individual transport permits, significantly easing commercial logistics between Ukraine and EU member states.
