Major fire at a plastics recycling plant in Germany

On the evening of April 9, a massive fire broke out at a plastic recycling plant in the industrial zone of Münsterland, Germany, in the town of Ahlen (North Rhine-Westphalia), according to Spiegel.

According to the fire department, the plant building was fully engulfed in flames at one point. One firefighter was injured while extinguishing the blaze. The fire spread over an area of approximately 7,000 square meters, affecting three production halls. The flames also spread to a neighboring facility.

As of the morning of April 10, the fire had been brought under control, though final extinguishing efforts are still ongoing. Around 300 emergency personnel are involved in the operation, including support from nearby towns. In response to the incident, police have closed off nearby streets.
