OpenAI has filed a countersuit against Elon Musk, seeking legal protection from any potential unlawful or unfair actions by the entrepreneur, according to Reuters.
The report states that on Wednesday, OpenAI asked a federal court to restrict Musk from taking further actions that could harm the company, as part of an ongoing legal dispute concerning the future structure of OpenAI.
Earlier, in March, the Associated Press reported that a U.S. federal court had dismissed Musk’s lawsuit in which he opposed OpenAI’s plans to become a commercial entity. Additionally, according to the Wall Street Journal, a group of investors led by Musk had previously offered $97.4 billion to acquire the nonprofit organization overseeing OpenAI.
OpenAI gained widespread recognition after launching the ChatGPT chatbot in November 2022, which went viral and reached one million users in less than a week. Elon Musk was one of the co-founders of OpenAI in 2015 but later cut ties with the company.
